The town expanded rapidly with the arrival of the train and expansion of the port. The blue sky with big rolling white clouds was a perfect backdrop to one of the very best days I've had in Ireland (or anywhere, for that matter). I would suggest taking US Route 1 south, as one can drive along the Pacific Ocean coast. Among the locations of interest in the city is the Science Gallery.
